Headache Treatment

Recurring headaches can stem from muscle tension, joint restrictions in the neck, posture strain, or nerve irritation. Physical therapy looks at the neck, shoulders, and upper back to identify contributing factors and address them directly, rather than only managing symptoms as they arise.

What We Look At

  • Neck Mobility — Stiffness or restricted motion in the cervical spine is a common driver of tension-type and cervicogenic headaches.
  • Posture — Forward head position and rounded shoulders can strain neck muscles and trigger headache patterns.
  • Muscle Tension — Tightness in the neck, jaw, and upper back muscles often refers pain into the head.

Approaches We Use

  • Manual Therapy — Hands-on techniques to ease muscle tightness and restore joint movement in the neck and upper spine.
  • Exercise Therapy — Targeted stretching and strengthening to correct posture and reduce recurring strain.
  • Electrical Stimulation Units — Gentle current applied to tense muscles to help relieve pain.
  • Heat Packs and Cold Packs — Used to calm muscle tension or reduce inflammation before or after hands-on work.

Getting Started

Treatment begins with an evaluation of neck movement, posture, and muscle patterns to understand what may be contributing to your headaches, followed by a plan built around your specific findings.
