Balance Training
Balance Training
Balance Training addresses the strength, coordination, and body awareness needed to stand, walk, and move safely. Balance difficulties can follow an injury, surgery, illness, or simply develop over time, and they often raise the risk of falls. A focused program works on the underlying causes rather than just the symptom, helping patients regain confidence in daily movement.
What Balance Training Involves
- Assessment — identifying which systems (strength, vision, inner ear, sensation) are contributing to instability.
- Progressive Exercise — tasks that gradually challenge standing balance, weight shifting, and reaction time.
- Functional Practice — applying balance skills to real tasks like walking, turning, and stepping over obstacles.
Tools We Use
- Balance Pads — soft foam surfaces that challenge stability to retrain balance and ankle control.
- Balance Boards — wobble boards that train coordination, proprioception, and fall prevention.
- Treadmills — supervised walking practice to restore gait and confidence in movement.
